1. Rahu usually gives good results in even signs and bad results in odd signs.

2. Like other Krura Grahas, Rahu gives auspicious results in Trishadaaya (3-6-11).

3. Rahu in odd signs in 2H, 4H, 6H, 8H and 12H cause danger due to poisoning or suicide.

4. When Rahu is in 1H, 4H, 6H, 8H or 12H and the Saturn afflicts either Sun, Moon or Mars, the native suffers from consumption, leprosy, dysentery etc.

Rahu is the kingmaker according to the Shastras.

When Rahu is strong and positive in a horoscope, it has the ability to catapult someone born in humble circumstances to king-hood. Rahu gives subtle abilities to assess someone’s strengths and weaknesses and adapt one’s behaviour in accordance to that. It teaches very high level diplomacy and hence is always a winner in battles. It does not like to fight war in a battle field like Mars and Ketu, but like to use its supreme intellect to fight the battle with wit.

According to Vaidyanatha when Rahu is placed in Ascendant in Leo, it grants Kingly status.

The two signs which represent Kingly status are Leo and Arise as this is where Sun attains Svakshetra and Uccha respectively.

According to some, Rahu in 3 Bhu-loka rasi Arise, Taurus and Cancer, acts like a shield in the  horoscope and protect the native from all dangers. It has the ability to remove all kinds of suffering from native’s life and give success and prosperity. Thus, if native is born in humble circumstances, he eventually attains success and prosperity. 4.

Rahu is a Krura Graha  and like any other Krura Graha, placement of Rahu in the Ascendant should cause the Karakatva of Ascendant to suffer, unless Rahu is placed in an auspicious sign. Thus, Karga gives negative results for this placement of Rahu in a horoscope. He says that this Rahu makes one diseased, disabled, ugly appearance, wicked and lack righteousness. However, Rahu bestows his own characteristics, making the native highly courageous and having reddish eyes. The native has an unkempt appearance, ugly nails etc. However, he also agrees that in some places Rahu can grant much wealth and expensive metals such as gold. These places are Leo, Cancer and Arise. Leo and Cancer are ruled by Royal Grahas Sun and Moon while Arise is a royal sign as Sun attains Uccha here.

Mantresvara also gives mixed results for this placement.  Although this gives good longevity (chirayu),  wealth, strength, it also gives diseases on the upper part of the body.

According to Brddhayavanajataka, the native is shrewd, cheat own people, have diseases on the head, have strong sexual drive, becomes victorious in arguments and debates.

Usually the native is very proud of his lineage, very talkative or rather very apt in talking based on the circumstances i.e., he is able to persuade others easily. In inauspicious signs, it gives many diseases, especially in the head region. This is especially true when Rahu is conjoined with another malefic or be aspected by one and devoid of benefic aspects.

Narayanan Bhatta gives high caliber and diplomacy to this position of Rahu.

 According to him, Rahu in Ascendant grants the native an ability to get their work done by others help and support, i.e., they are very capable in persuading people to help them and do their work. They are seen to rise very high in life, due to their people management skills. Such people are true to their words, whatever they say or promise, they never turn back. There is no doubt that someone who has strong speech and high capability to manoeuvre others can win any battle. Hence, this is a good placement for Politicians, who are habitual liars, one who always put a mask on their face. Rahu in Ascendant gives very high capability to influence others.

According to Harvamsa, Rahu in Ascendant in Uccha grants kingly status, while in other signs, the native suffers from diseases, suffer miseries and be fearful.

Gopal Ratnakara mentions few Rasis where Rahu gives excellent results while placed in Ascendant.

They are Arise, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Kanya and Makara. According to him the native attains kingly status, comforts, and is merciful. In other signs, the native either is devoid of a son or his son dies early.

Rahu in Ascendant is a very important placement.

Even if the native born in humble circumstances, he uses his courage, speech and management abilities to reach very high in life. They are able to influence large masses and attain their respect. He is powerful, courageous, valorous, but arrogant, and doesn’t give damn  to others opinions, actions and behaviours, and endeavour to move ahead with his own agenda with extreme focus. Rahu under affliction can give some diseases of the face or a black mark in the face.

Here the sex drive is strong which causes the native to indulge with many women. He is fond of wearing flashy dresses  to attract others. However, the native is still strong on his words and promises.

Usually Rahu in the Ascendant and Ketu in the 7th house does not give happiness from Children (Ascendant) and Marriage (7H).
