Ascendant is the neecha Sign and marana karaka sthana for Saturn.

Hence its placement in the Ascendant house is not considered positive. The natural and functional significations of Saturn suffer unless there are some fortification for Saturn. The situation usually differ for different Ascendants as different signs provide different  level of support to Saturn. For instance if Saturn is placed in Aries Ascendant, it’s behaviour and results are  very different compared to placement in Li, Cp or Aq Ascendants, mainly because Saturn is weak and defeated in Ar while it gains strength in Li, Cp or Aq due to exaltation or being in own sign.
